Taking Classes

The process for getting to play in a DareDevil show is first, take classes and get to know our DareDevil comedy flavor. We have Improv 101, 202, 303, 404 and Sketch Writing. We also have various workshops and guest teachers providing skilled workshops throughout the year. You might be saying to yourself, “I’ve already taken a lot of improv classes elsewhere.” We are so happy to hear that you have training under your belt. In that case talk to our Head of Education, Adrian, about jumping into a class to audit and he will determine placement for you. We do recommend taking all the classes from the beginning so that you can get to know the community, make friends and learn our process but we are happy to assess your abilities and make decisions based on what we think is best. Short Form Players

In general once a student has completed Improv 101 and 202 they can be recommended to be a Short Form Player on Wednesday nights at our Dead Crow Improv Show. Once approved, there is a call and response every week for who is available and then you are cast in games for the evening. This is a very fun way to get on stage, gain experience and have fun each week. This is a great way to be involved with low commitment.

Long Form Players / House Teams

Once you’ve completed Improv 404 you are eligible to be recommended to be part of a Long Form House Team. This is determined by skill level, commitment, performance ability and willingness to be a team player. Currently, we only have our Wednesday night DCIS where we can showcase House Teams so space is limited. We do our best to showcase as many talented players as we can with the restraints we have and we are always looking for awesome players and to create space on stage for them. Each house team has up to 8 members and is required to practice twice a month with an approved DareDevil coach.

The Comedy Powder Keg Players

The Comedy Powder Keg is our flagship show which showcases sketch and improv. This show is invite-only for players that we’ve seen do excellent work at DCIS and shows dedication and passion for improv and sketch. This show requires helping out behind the scenes, writing, learning lines, acting, procuring costumes and being an all around team player to make this happen. A higher commitment level is required.

Dynamo Players

This show is invite only and/or there’s a call and response for who can play in the show each month. This show is based off various themes and styles and is cast accordingly. This show is only once a month and requires one rehearsal per show.
